Message going with my new MASSIVE SMIC intercoolers. Several reasons why:

1) I will be able to maintain the OEM AC components (this usually isn't an issue with the Greddy or Apollo though)

2) I will be able to use my XStream dual intake (as compared to two seperate intakes with a dual-MAS setup and the filters in the SMIC location)

3) There wont be as big of a chance of heatsoaking or starving the cooling system of needed cool air when the car is being used in long-term high-load driving conditions.

4) With the Apollo or Greddy, there are inherent problems with the "crossflowing" design of those intercoolers. They cross-over the airflow so that it eliminates the balance that Nissan developed into the powerplant. i.e. the driver's turbo is powered by the driver's cylinder banks, however, the driver's turbo feeds air into the passenger cylinder banks (note the design of the upper plenum). This creates a great deal of airflow balance between the two banks of cylinders. By crossing-over the intake tracts, the chance of running one side of the engine dangerously leaner than the other is very high.

5) There is no good solution for the intake with a FMIC - as I mentioned before, if you dont want to stuff the intakes behind the hot intercoolers (which would be counter-productive), you will only get good results by using an AFC and a dual-mas setup with the intakes in teh SMIC location and they will be lower to the ground in the SMIC position (greater chance of static hydrolock if you go through water).

In the end, I think the only benefit to a FMIC is solely cosmetic and that's only if it floats your boat to have a big FMIC in the grille.
